The Prototype Model can be divided into plastic prototype, silicone prototype, metal prototype, and oily mud prototype according to the materials used for making:
(1) Plastic prototype: Its raw materials are plastic, mainly prototype for some plastic products, such as televisions, Car parts,monitors, telephones, air-condition,medcial equipments and so on.
(2) Silicone prototype model: The raw material is silicone, which is mainly a prototype that shows the design shape of the product, such as cars, mobile phones, toys, crafts, daily necessities, and so on.
(3) Metal prototype: Its raw materials are aluminum alloys and other metal materials, mainly prototypes for some high-end products, such as notebook computers, advanced single-player, MP3 players, CD players and so on.
(4) Oil mud prototypes: Its raw material is oil mud, commonly known as mud carving prototypes, which is mainly used for product design and development. In the early stages of product development, mud carving masters used mud as a model based on their imagination or pictures, and then based on the oil mud model. To determine the appearance, However, the mud prototype has been replaced by freform.
