There are many factors that affect the success of 3D printing, such as material, dimension, parameter setting and so on. The setting of 3D printing wall thickness plays a great role in the success of 3D printing. Today, Smile RP Limited. (short: Smile) to explain the size, wall thickness, minimum details and other factors on the printing results.
Dimensions: the maximum one-time size depends on the printer's size of print space (FDM is 400 / 400 / 400mm,SLAs / 600*600*400mm), but a one-off print limit size model is not recommended because the risk of 3D printing is increased when printing size is too large and warping is easy. When allowed, the cutting splicing process can be used to reduce the risk, and the printing cost can be reduced appropriately.
Wall thickness: in order to ensure the structural strength of the model, 3D printing has a minimum wall thickness limit, the larger the wall thickness is, the higher the hardness and strength of the parts will be. Generally, the minimum wall thickness of FDM is 1.2mm,SLAs and the minimum thickness of SLS is 1mm. You can adjust the thickness of the model between 1mm-2.5mm according to the functional requirements of the model. Of course, the larger the size of the model is, the greater the minimum thickness of the model will be.
Tolerances: 3D printout should be spliced with a certain assembly gap, such as figure.
General FDM splicing parts require a clearance of 0.2-0.3mmSLA-splicing clearance of 0.1-0.2mm, resin size of less than 150mm, tolerance of 0.1 or so, equal ratio conversion (that is, more than 400, unilateral 0.35mm)
Minimum details: the minimum print details are mainly determined by the resolution of the 3D printer. In order to prevent the loss of the model due to printing and late cleaning, we recommend that you refer to the minimum detail sizes we set.
For relief, the minimum layer height and layer width are 0.5mm for the uplift and 0.4m for the sag. For the text, the minimum height and width of the layer should be more than 0.5 mm. due to the small interlayer connection surface.
