The driving gear has sharp teeth that can bite into the wire and then rely on the direction of rotation of the gear to push the wire forward and backward. If the wire cannot be moved, but the gear continues to rotate, the gear may scrape some plastic off the wire, leaving no room for the gear to catch the wire again. Many people call this situation "planing". Because too much plastic has been shaved off, resulting in abnormal extrusion function. If this situation occurs on your printer, you usually see many plastic fragments scattered all over the ground. You will also see that the extruder is rotating, but the wire is not pushed inside the extruder. This article introduces the simplest method to solve this problem.

1. Increase extruder temperature
If you have been experiencing problems with planing, try increasing the temperature of the extruder by 5 to 10 degrees Celsius to make plastic extrusion easier. You can click on "Edit Process Settings" to open the "Temperature tab" to set it. Select the corresponding extruder from the left side of the list, and then double-click the temperature setpoint you want to modify. Everyone must have a common understanding with Magic Monkey Net that plastic is always easier to squeeze out at high temperatures, so this is a very useful setting that can be adjusted.
2. Printing speed too fast
After increasing the temperature, if you still encounter problems with planing, the next thing you need to do is to reduce the printing speed. By doing so, the motor of the extruder no longer needs to rotate at that high speed, as the wire takes longer to extrude. Lowering the motor speed of the extruder helps to avoid planing problems. You can click on "Edit ProcessSettings" and open the "Other" tab to set it. Adjusting the "Default Printing Speed" can control the speed of the extruder's movement when extruding plastic. Magic Monkey Network provides an example for everyone. For example, if your previous printing speed was 3600mm/min (60mm/s), try reducing this value by half to see if the problem with planing has disappeared.
3. Check if the nozzle is blocked
After reducing the temperature and printing speed, if you still have the problem with planing, it may be that the nozzle is blocked and consumables cannot be printed
