In addition, such materials are prone to adhere to the cutting tool during the cutting process, increasing the frequency of tool wear and replacement, further increasing the processing cost.
2. Non metallic materials with high hardness and brittleness characteristics
Materials with high hardness and brittleness, such as glass and marble, are not suitable for CNC machining in non-metallic materials. These materials are prone to cracking during the processing, which not only affects the machining accuracy but may also cause damage to the machine tool and cutting tools. Due to the high precision and stability required for CNC machining, high hardness and brittleness materials are difficult to control their fracture behavior during the machining process, making it difficult to meet the requirements of CNC machining.
3. High toughness and difficult to cut metal materials
In metallic materials, materials with high toughness and difficulty in cutting, such as titanium alloys, martensitic stainless steels, etc., are also a major challenge in CNC machining. Due to the difficulty of cutting and the hardness of the material, this type of material is prone to wear, fracture, or accumulation of cutting tools in CNC machine tools. The cutting of high toughness materials requires higher cutting forces and more stable cutting conditions, and CNC machine tools often find it difficult to achieve ideal cutting results when processing such materials. In addition, the processing of high toughness materials also generates a large amount of cutting heat, requiring a more effective cooling system to reduce cutting temperature, otherwise it will affect machining accuracy and tool life.
4. Heavy materials
Heavy materials, such as heavy cast iron parts (such as engine blocks, etc.), are prone to shaking or cracking of CNC machine tools during processing due to their large volume and heavy weight. This not only affects machining accuracy, but may also cause serious damage to the machine tool. The processing of heavy materials requires higher rigidity machine tools and more stable cutting conditions, which are often difficult for ordinary CNC machine tools to meet.
5. Corrosive materials
Some materials may produce corrosive by-products during processing, or have corrosive effects on machine tools and cutting tools. For example, some plastics may release corrosive gases or liquids during processing, which may cause damage to machine tools and cutting tools. Therefore, when selecting CNC machining materials, it is necessary to fully consider the corrosive characteristics of the materials and take corresponding protective measures.
6. Materials with high processing costs
In addition to the physical properties mentioned above, there are also some materials that are not suitable for CNC machining due to high processing costs. For example, the processing cost of certain rare metals or high-value materials may be much higher than the value of the materials themselves. In this case, choosing other processing methods or alternative materials may be more economically reasonable.
